22 Mossberg Rifle - Everyone wants a cheap gun. I'm not saying it's poorly made, but a good gun for very little. If the gun is reliable and accurate and affordable, that's great.

The Mossberg Blaze is light on the back at just 3.5 pounds. This is made possible by the construction of the movement in two plastic skin materials.
A steel bolt, barrel and trigger group are mounted on this shell. The bolt is retracted against a spring for compact action. The pistol is supplied with a 25-round magazine.

Unlike all other .22 LR selfloaders, the Blaze's bolt lock opens on the last shot. The trigger isn't crisp and sharp, but it's light enough for four pounds of one ounce of pressure before it breaks.
.22 Long Rifle Ammunition ranges from brown to brown to powder residue. To keep your gun in good working order, it is recommended that the gun be cleaned every 300 to 500 rounds.

This does not mean spraying oil on the action! So clean the gun from time to time. The Mossberg Blaze has 16 screws that hold the two shells together.
Remove this and separate the stock. After that, the bolt can be removed and the barrel removed by removing the hex nut. It is not necessary to remove the barrel, but cleaning is quite easy.
After a thorough cleaning, oil the bolt and the gun will run hundreds of rounds.
The pistol has been fired just under 500 rounds with no failures to feed, chamber, fire or eject. As usual with .22 rimfire rifles, we were unable to fire despite tight firing indents.

A Long 22 hollow point rifle over 1200 fps is good medicine for small deer. I would feel far from helpless with the Blaze and a 25 round magazine in a defensive situation.

I have long felt that a standard .22 selfloader is a good defense against attack for most families. Bullet placement is very important and the Mossberg is an easy gun to use.
For absolute accuracy, I fired the gun at solid shooting range. Since this rifle is light for light duty, I shot it for accuracy at 25 yards, shooting both RN and HP Fiocchi loads.
The results of the five shot groups were excellent. Bullet RN 1.1 inches by five inches, HP 1.2 inches.
If you want an affordable, lightweight pistol, the Blaze seems to be the best fit for that need.

It competes with the Marlin 795, Ruger 10/22, Remington 597, and Mossberg Blaze.
The "Plinkster" name was previously used for a different Mossberg offering - the Model 377, which was also used for the .22 Long Rifle, but with a 15-round tube magazine, was available from about 1977 to 1984.
They are available with many barrel and stock combinations, from synthetic stocks to maple, and from chrome to blued steel barrels. The blue barrel is 18 inches (46 cm) long and the chrome barrel is 21 inches (53 cm) long; overall length is 37 inches (94 cm) and 40 inches (100 cm) respectively.

The 702 Plinkster is made in Brazil by Companhia Brasileira de Cartuchos (CBC) and sold under the Mossberg name. It is actually a Model CBC 7022 rebuilt to Mossberg specifications and previously sold under the MagTech brand name. The bolt and receiver design is similar to the Model 70 variant of the Marlin Model 60; the ejector, firing mechanism and feed system are different.
