22lr Ar Style - AR Samples, AR-15, Editors, NFA / Suppressors / Class III, Reviews, Rifles, Rimfire, Silencers Saturday Pete No Comments
Good morning everyone and welcome to another edition of TFB's Silent Saturday, brought to you by our friends at Yankee Hill Machine and Graham Brothers Rifle Works, makers of MARC chassis and cartridge action cartridges in 300BLK or .308 Win brought to you. Today we take a look at the 22LR AR-15 that defeated the IASW from Innovative Arms. Small, light, cheap to shoot and very quiet, the IASW is perfect for quiet practice without waking the neighbors or just a backyard practice. Heck, you won't even wake up the person next to you. Is it worth spending nearly $1,000 of your hard-earned cash on a suppressed rimfire AR? we'll see
22lr Ar Style
I resisted owning an AR-15 chambered in .22LR for years. And I really feel like a hypocrite; I've preached suppressed rimfire shooting for years and I've mentioned more than once that an AR chamber in the same shot is guaranteed to put a smile on anyone's face. Purpose-built .22LR AR-15s may feel like toys compared to their full-power cousins, but that's no reason to dismiss them as a weapon worth your time. So far, I've failed to highlight a fun, cheap, and quiet platform to shoot from.

Modern IASW weapons are available in two versions: a short barrel rifle with two seals and a 16.1″ rifle with a continuous compression barrel and handguard. The IASW is made from a basic Smith & Wesson M&P15-22 rifle with a 4.5 barrel. This barrel length is the magic number of maximum noise reduction to keep .22LR ammunition at subsonic velocities.
Although Innovation Arms refers to the IASW as a single ported weapon, purists will disagree because there is no port on the barrel. Since neither the NFA versions nor the non-NFA versions are fired without their included suppressors, I would argue that they are at least pseudo-integrated suppressed guns. I doubt that would put off many potential customers.
With a base MSRP of $500 for the S&W M&P15-22 and a quality rimfire silencer running around $350, an argument can be made that a suppressed 22LR AR15 can be made for less than buying a complete "integrated" system. However, as with most calibrations for suppression, internal volume is king. And, depending on the model you choose, the modern IASW weapon has two or three times the suppression volume of a standard rimfire. The results are interesting.
An added benefit for those who decide to go with a sealed SBR and suppressor combination is the 1/2×28 mount adapter that allows the IASW to be used in a host of other rifles and pistols. Again, since the 16.1″ model has a continuous suppressor tube, it is locked into one configuration for life.
My Second Ar15 Build, Chambered In .22lr
Which brings up a good point: why isn't Innovation Arms releasing a pistol version? If you open your trusty NFA (not j/k) handbook, you'll recall that US gun laws state that if a gun begins life as a rifle, it's always considered a rifle, even if you change Stock for a bucket. Since S&W does not currently offer a pistol version of the M&P15-22, Innovative Arms is stuck making rifles in either NFA or non-NFA flavors. Note: The M&P15-22P pistol is unfortunately no longer in production.
So why not buy or build a 10/22 or a semi-auto rimfire rifle or other pistol? For one, an AR-style rifle lets you build and train with all the ergonomics and muscle memory of a real AR-15. Without the recoil, noise and fear levels that can come with those nasty black rifles. New, young and experienced shooters can shoot the IASW for hours without having to worry about hearing protection or recoil. The key to becoming a good shooter is repetition. Obviously there are conversion kits that allow you to build a rimfire AR-15 over an existing 5.56mm lower.
Back to the price. Yes, $1,100 to $1,300 is a lot of money to drop on a rimfire rifle. But if you're considering the whole package, it might be worth the extra investment to have a factory-enhanced system.
Like most monocore silencers, the IASW suffers from minimal first-round pop (FRP). But under normal circumstances I would describe FRP as barely noticeable.
M&p 15 22: Upgrade It With The Right Accessories
The IASW's suppression levels are excellent, ranking with the best threaded rimfire suppressors on the market today. However, since I do not own a short-barreled semi-automatic rifle, my comparison is relegated to pistol hosts. If you're looking for absolute silence, you won't be disappointed.
Available in a standard 16.25″ overall barrel/silencer or SBR length. The SBR version is a gun with two tax stamps. The unit has a one-piece billet core machined from 17-4 ph stainless steel and is user-friendly. Each adapter comes with a tool, however, you can use a standard 3/8 drive. No need to buy subsonic bullets to stay stealthy, our unique design gives you subsonic speed with standard and high velocity bullets. Weapon models, colors and accessories may vary. Please check with your dealer before ordering. Please note that the tube and handguard are permanently attached and cannot be removed on the standard 16.25″ 15-22 integral length. While the initial investment for the Modern Weapons IASW is less than purchasing a standard rimfire AR platform and a separate adjustable mount, the performance and size of this system is worth a closer look. Pulling the trigger on the IASW is a funny experience. A suppressed rimfire is life.
Thanks for reading Silencer Saturday. Be safe, have fun, and we'll see you next weekend at TFB.

A .22 caliber version of the AR would make good sense. I tried the .22 conversion units.
They're as good as it gets, and I'd rather have two guns than one that has too many accessories. Also, .22 long rifle bullets leave lead deposits in the .223 Remington barrel.

My favorite AR-15 is the Colt M4/SOCOM type rifle. The LE6920 is as close to an M4 military rifle as we can get. Colt M4 .22 rifle manufactured under license from Walther.
Colt has a long history of licensing parts (and even firearms) production going back to Eli Whitney and continuing today with Adcor.
The Walther rifle is first class in every way and a worthy rifle to carry the Colt name.
Only the .22 caliber magazine gives the Colt M4 a casual look in .22. Otherwise, it looks like a typical AR-15.
Ar 15 .22lr Conversion Kit
The Colt M4 .22 is a simple semi-automatic rimfire rifle. It is intended to operate as closely as possible to the AR-15 rifle.
It looks great. The real deal is the long .22 caliber magazine. The safety, trigger, sights, magazine release, and cocking handle function like a Colt AR-15 rifle.
This makes the AR-15 rifle an excellent rifle for inexpensive training. The Walther works very differently than the AR-15, but the controls are very similar.
An important feature is a racing steel barrel. The barrel mounts to a shell that resembles the patterns of a standard AR-15 carbine.
Best 22 Lr Ammo For Self Defense
The barrel is also suitable for concealing the A1-style cartridge. AR-15 sights are standard. There are many corrections in the scenes.
The square train runs for free. A Picatinny rail allows laser or combat lights to be mounted, even a red dot sight on the side.
Receivers are aluminum, like the AR-15. They are marked with Colt and M4 Carbine. Walter's markings on the lower right receiver are out of the way.
Fit and finish get high marks in rifle testing. All controls are AR-15 standard and feel like the "real thing" used for comparison.
Hammerli Tac R1 .22 Lr Hv Tactical Rifle
A key difference in function is to throw the ball while swinging the hole to prepare it. The .223 version extends to about three times the length of the .22 rifle.
After the first few tries it looks amazing, unless you've ever fired an AR-15 rifle. Five-position parts provide a good fit.
I have mostly used iron sights and have also used the TruGlo Eminus scope with good results.
I think it is appropriate to focus on the coaching aspect
