22lr Ar Rifle - Pete's No Comments on AR Pattern, AR-15, Editorial, NFA / Suppressors / Class III, Reviews, Rifles, Rimfire, Silencer Saturday
Hello everyone and welcome to another edition of TFB's Silencer Saturday brought to you by our friends at Yankee Hill Machine and Graham Brothers Rifle Works, makers of the 300BLK, .308 Win chambered MARC chassis and complete bolt action pistols. Today we take a look at the IASW Suppressed 22LR AR-15 from Innovative Arms. Small, light, free to shoot and very quiet, the IASW is great for practicing stealth skills, or for sneaking around the backyard without alerting the neighbors. Hey, you don't lead who you are. Is it worth spending nearly $1,000 of your hard earned cash on a suppressed rimfire AR? Let's take a look.
22lr Ar Rifle
It's been years since I resisted the urge to pick up an AR-15 chambered in .22LR. Honestly, I'm a hypocrite; I've preached the blessings of rimfire shooting for years, and I've never said that keeping an AR chambered in a cartridge alone would put a smile on everyone's face. The .22LR AR-15 is made to look like a toy compared to its full-power cousins, but that's no reason to dismiss them as guns worth your time. So far, I have failed you by not presenting a platform that is fun to shoot, cheap, and quiet.
Smith Wesson Mp 15 22 22lr Ar Pistol 13321
The Innovative Arms IASW is available in two versions: a short two-stage rifle and a 16.1″ rifle with a suppressor tube and handguard. The IASW is made from a barrel cut to 4.5″ from a Smith & Wesson M&P 15-22 base rifle. Barrel length is the magic number for holding most .22LR bullets at high velocities.
Although Innovative Arms claims the IASW is a fully suppressed gun, shooters disagree due to the lack of a barrel port. Since the NFA or non-NFA versions can't be shot without a barrel installed, I'd argue that it's at least a pseudo-gun. I doubt it will turn off as many customers as possible.
With a base MSRP of around $500 for the S&W M&P15-22 and a quality rimfire kit running around $350, it's arguable that you can build a 22LR AR15 for less than buying a "included" system ". However, as with most suppressors, internal volume is king. And depending on the model you choose, the Innovative Arms IASW has two or three times the number of standard rimfire pistols. The results are amazing.
An added benefit for those who decide to go with a double-action SBR and suppressor combo is the 1/2×28 mount adapter that allows the IASW to be used on other rifle and pistol forces. Also, since the 16.1” model has a fixed suppressor tube, it is locked into one configuration for life.

Here's a good reason: Why doesn't Innovative Arms release a pistol version? If you flip through your authentic NFA handbook (no j/k) you'll remember that US firearms laws state that if a gun begins its life as a rifle, it's still considered a rifle, no matter how you flip it. Plant for a hug. Since S&W no longer offers a pistol version of the M&P15-22, Innovative Arms will continue to manufacture the rifles in NFA or non-NFA versions. Note: The M&P15-22P pistol is no longer in production.
So why not buy or build another 10/22 semi-automatic rimfire rifle or pistol? For one, the AR-style gun allows you to develop and train all the skills and ergonomics with the complex memory of a real AR-15. Without the depression, chaos, and fear that comes with those nasty black rifles. Newer, younger, shorter shooters can shoot the IASW for hours without feeling the recoil or recoil. Repetition is the key to becoming a good shooter. Simply, a conversion kit that allows you to build a rimfire AR-15 in 5.56mm Small.
Back to pay. Yes, $1,100 to $1,300 is a lot of money to drop on a rifle. But if you're considering the whole package, having a factory-disabled system is worth the extra investment.
Like most monocore fans, the IASW is slightly susceptible to first round pop (FRP). But under normal conditions I would describe FRP as invisible.
Rimfire Rifles Refined And Reimagined: Radical Firearms Rf22lr
The IASW has excellent suppression levels and is among the best rifled shotguns on the market today. However, since I don't own a semi-automatic semi-automatic rifle, my comparisons will be limited to pistol operators. If you're looking for absolute silence, you won't be disappointed.
Available in standard 16.25″ barrel length / silencer length or as SBR. The SBR version has two stamp guns. This insert features a user-friendly one-piece pocket key that can be machined from 17-4ph stainless steel. Each unit comes with a tool, however, you can use a standard 3/8 inch driver. No need to buy subsonic ammo to be quiet, our unique design gives you subsonic velocities with standard, high-velocity ammo. Gun model, color and materials are different. Please clarify with your dealer before ordering. Note that the tube and handguard on the 16.25″ standard 15-22 are permanently attached and cannot be removed. Although the initial investment for the Innovative Arms IASW is little more than purchasing a standard AR rimfire platform and a separate screw-on barrel, the performance and size of this system is very heavy. Pulling the trigger on an IASW is a great experience. Rimfire suppresses life.
Thanks for reading Silencer Saturday. Cheers and have fun, see you next week on TFB.

The .22 caliber version of the AR is a good example. I tried the .22 converted units.
While that's fine, I'd rather have two guns over one with less equipment. Also, .22 Long Rifle bullets leave blanks in the .223 Remington barrel.

My favorite AR-15 is the Colt M4/SOCOM style rifle. The LE6920 is as close as we can get to a military M4 rifle. The Colt M4 .22 caliber rifle was manufactured under license from Walther.
Colt has had a long history of licensing parts (ie guns) since Eli Whitney, which continues with Adcore today.
The Walther rifle is first class in every respect, a rifle worthy of the Colt name.
The only .22 caliber magazine is offered in the common Colt M4 .22 format. Otherwise, the AR-15 looks pretty much the same.
Building A 22lr Ar Pistol
The Colt M4 .22 is a semi-automatic rimfire rifle. It is meant to work almost like an AR-15 rifle.
It looks great. The main feature is the long .22 caliber magazine. The safety, trigger, sights, magazine release, and cocking handle are functionally identical to the Colt AR-15 rifle.
This is a great rifle for free training for AR-15 rifle users. The Walther functions differently than the AR-15, but has the same controls.
A key feature is the competitive glass bar. The barrel mounts in a sleeve similar to that of a standard AR-15 carbine.
Ar 15 22lr
The A1 style flash hider is true to barrel. Sights are standard AR-15 style. There are many changes in views.
The fourth rail floats freely. A Picatinny rail mount allows for lasers or combat lights, as well as a side-mounted red dot sight.
The receivers are aluminum, similar to the AR-15. Colt is marked with M4 Carbine. Walther markings lower right.
Enter and finish and get a high score when inspecting the rifle. All powers are standard AR-15 and the same as the "real thing" used by Colt for comparison.

The first difference in operation is the throw of the lock when the lock is held in place. The .223 version is three times the length of the .22 Long Rifle.
It just feels weird after the first few tests, if you've never fired an AR-15 rifle. The five-position shaft is well-adjusted.
I used steel sights most of the time, and I also used a Truglo Eminus scope.
I think the emphasis is on the training part
